From Childhood to Center Stage: Carly Pearce’s Raw Confession of Anxiety & OCD

Country star Carly Pearce is breaking the silence on a deeply personal journey—revealing that her struggles with anxiety and obsessive‑compulsive disorder (OCD) began long before the spotlight ever found her. Appearing on the Dumb Blonde podcast with host Bunnie Xo, Pearce admitted she once believed her mental health issues emerged during her 2020 divorce, but therapy helped her uncover a far older reality: “I’ve had crippling OCD since I was a child,” she shared. She described repetitive rituals like checking her backpack and alarm “over and over and over.”

Pearce also reflected on how stress during the pandemic and her highly publicized breakup acted as a wake-up call. It wasn’t just the spotlight that pushed her to confront her mental health; it was a vivid bodily response, where she “just couldn’t keep it together.”

She recalled a childhood memory of her perfectionist mother comforting a storm‑terrified Pearce by taking her to meet a meteorologist in a library—an early attempt to soothe her anxiety.

Now 35, Pearce continues her healing journey with therapy and creative openness, using her platform to demystify mental health struggles and encourage others to seek support.
