This is not a trend that will be on the fringe in 2019, as Fringe will take center stage this year. Fringe was everywhere for Spring 2019, whether it be stylishly edging coats, turtlenecks, maxi dresses and pants to being the focus for suede bags and accessories, fringe made everything more festive, funky, and dramatic on the runways.
The detail was a rework of classic western style for design houses like Coach and Longchamp. But, where fringe really made a statement was as an added embellishment on dramatic dresses, like the scarf-inspired at Oscar de la Renta, full-on fringe twirling skirts at Tom Ford, or silver fringed party dresses stealing the show at Balmain.
Not to be outdone, Calvin Klein, Comme des Garçons, Jacquemus, R13, Cushnie and Claudia Li all swooshed up the fringe elements. And in Milan, Giorgio Armani’s fringe jumpsuit came in gorgeous ocean colors. Surf’s UP!
