Freida Parton Clarifies: Dolly’s Health Not as Alarming as It Sounded

Country music fans were sent into a mild panic this week when Freida Parton, the younger sister of legend Dolly Parton, took to Facebook asking for prayers for her iconic sibling. But as of Tuesday, Freida is walking it back—clarifying that her request was heartfelt, not cause for alarm.

“I didn’t mean to scare anyone,” Freida, 68, explained in a follow-up post. “It was just a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.” She emphasized that Dolly was only “a little under the weather” and thanked fans for their outpouring of love.

Earlier that same day, Freida’s emotional message hinted at serious concern, saying she’d been “up all night praying” and called on the world to be “prayer warriors” for Dolly. The dramatic tone triggered concern online, especially considering Dolly’s recent health-related announcements.

Dolly, 79, had already addressed health issues publicly. In late September, she postponed a Las Vegas residency originally set for December 2025, explaining that she needed a few procedures—noting with her signature humor that this wasn’t her usual “trip to see [the] plastic surgeon.”

She added that while she isn’t quitting show business just yet—“God hasn’t said anything about stopping”—she’s taking time to heal and get ready for future adventures.

Fans also remember that earlier in September, Dolly missed a major appearance at her beloved Dollywood theme park due to an infection caused by a kidney stone. Ever the performer, she still made a virtual appearance, saying she was “with you in spirit.”

Despite the medical bumps in the road, Dolly’s Instagram presence remains upbeat. Her latest post on October 2 featured a playful fall pun: “Hay there, it’s October!”

While the health scares have sparked concern, it’s clear Dolly is taking things in stride, and her fans—and family—are keeping the faith.
