On Friday night, July 19th, at the Garth Brooks’ concert at Albertsons Stadium at Boise State University, the fans were in for a very special treat. After opening the show, Blake Shelton joined Brooks on stage to give the first live performance of their new duet “Dive Bar.”
“Two okies in a 40,000 seat #DiveBar!!! Boise, you and @BlakeShelton are THE BEST!” Brooks captioned an Instagram post. The song was released in mid-June and will be featured on Brooks’ upcoming album, Fun.
During a press conference before the show in Idaho, Brooks said his “Dive Bar” performance with Shelton was being filmed for a music video for the song, according to KTVB in Boise.
In a recent interview, Brooks expressed how he was struck by Shelton’s performance of “God’s Country” during the Academy of Country Music Awards in April. After that, he decided to reach out to the singer directly about a possible collaboration.
“I thought, ‘I’m feeling something here that’s drawing me right into this television,'” Brooks said. “So I just reached out for him. He was so sweet on the phone. The last thing I said was, ‘Hey, man, I don’t want to put you on the spot, but we got a song that might be a pretty cool duet.’”
