Foo Fighters have announced their first album since the sudden death of their drummer, Taylor Hawkins, in March 2022. The new album, “But Here We Are,” is set to be released on June 2 and features the lead single “Rescued,” which is available now. According to a press release, the album is “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” and is “a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship, and family.”
The new drummer on the album’s lead single has not been identified, and it does not sound like the band’s frontman, Dave Grohl. Many speculate that the drummer could be Josh Freese, who has been rumored to be the band’s next drummer, but no official announcement has been made.
The band is scheduled to embark on a tour beginning in May and looks likely to spend most of the year on the road. “But Here We Are” is produced by the band and their longtime collaborator Greg Kurstin and is described as “the 11th Foo Fighters album and the first chapter of the band’s new life.” It promises to be an emotional journey, channelling the band’s early days while exploring their newfound maturity and depth.
