Florida Georgia Line Confirms Break After Decade-Long Career

While Florida Georgia Line has not officially broken up, the country duo consisting of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley has confirmed that they are “taking a break.”

“I think ‘taking a break’ is the proper term, as opposed to breaking up,” Hubbard said in a recent interview.

“We’re not going our separate ways,” Kelley added. “We’re taking a break from recording our music. We’re being artists. We love creating. And so a couple years back, we started writing without each other and trying different writers, and now we’re both doing that with our music.”

Last year, two members of the Florida Georgia Line’s backing band took their individual leaves from the band. This, of course, sparked rumors that the group would be breaking up completely.

Florida Georgia Line has released five albums and over 26 charted songs over the course of their career, including the first-ever country song to be certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America, “Cruise.”

Although their 2021 tour was inevitably canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, the pair has a handful of festival dates this year.

“We’re sort of using these last 12 shows as a time to celebrate FGL, celebrate the fans, celebrate each other,” Hubbard said of their 2022 calendar, “and then support each other on the next chapter of our musical and creative journey, which is gonna be individually for a while. So we’re excited.”
