Fleetwood Mac’s Family Tree

Investigating the family tree is often times embarrassing in that you’ll find an uncle or great grandfather that ran with the Jessie James gang, or had 8 wives. In music the family tree is a bit kinder. Here’s a Fleetwood Mac ‘family tree’ backstory we think you’ll like.

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks met while attending Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, California. They sang Beach Boy harmonies and thought it would be a great idea to join a fledgling band called Fritz, eventually dropping out to record the self-proclaimed “Buckingham Nicks” album (a few of the songs appeared later as Fleetwood Mac singles). Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood left John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers to join Mac, while Dace Mason left Traffic.

John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers once touted Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and (prior to) the Rolling Stones Mick Taylor.
