The bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea, has recently pitched an idea and fans are unsure if they should take it seriously or not. Flea recently tweeted “If a good director decides to make a Popeye movie, I’m your man.” Fans of the Bassist likely already know that he strikes a resemblance to the comic book character Popeye. It wouldn’t be the first Popeye movie to happen, as in 1980 a live action musical featuring Robin Williams as Popeye was released. Others even weighed in on the subject with actress Meredith Salenger Tweeting, “”Robert Altman’s was one of my favs. Robin Williams. The set. The music – Harry Nilsson. Shelley Duvall singing ‘he needs me’ (later used in punch drunk love). Perfection. And yes… you would be perfect casting.” Fans also had fun with the idea photoshopping images of Popeye and Flea into one, and showing a lot of support for the idea.
