Flames in Portland: Ice Cube Condemns “Coward” After Crew Bus Fire

During his Truth to Power tour, Ice Cube encountered an unsettling twist in Portland: a crew bus parked beside his hotel was set ablaze. While no one was harmed and no equipment was lost, the incident sparked fierce reaction from the rapper, who called the act “cowardly.” In the aftermath, Cube took to social media to clarify details. He emphasized the burning vehicle was a crew bus—not his personal tour bus—and said everyone was asleep upstairs when it happened.

He added that his actual bus was “in Oakland getting serviced,” underscoring that the attack targeted the wrong vehicle. Though motives remain unclear, rumor mills suggested the bus was mistaken for an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) van, given its prominent “ICE” lettering. Protesters linked to Antifa were speculated to be involved—though authorities have yet to confirm any affiliation.

Ice Cube also addressed online accusations of downplaying the fire’s severity. In response to criticism, he insisted he had stated facts—not spin—and told detractors to tone down their commentary. While investigations continue and video footage is being reviewed, Ice Cube remains resolute: “a coward set fire to the bus,” he declared, “but they lit the wrong one.”
