“Fixer Upper” Stars Remodel their Hometown with New Coffee Shop

In case you didn’t already know, Joanna Gaines is a busy lady. Aside from being a mom of five, she’s working on a second cookbook, launching a new TV network with husband Chip, and according to her latest Instagram post, she’s also opening a new coffee shop this fall.  In a blog post on their website Friday, Chip and Joanna Gaines released renderings for the project, which is under construction across the Silos, where the Gaines created their large-scale “Magnolia Market and Garden” center not too long ago in downtown Waco, Texas, the couple’s home base.

“For the past couple of months, we’ve been working on a new addition to the Silos grounds,” she wrote. “This fall, our coffee shop Magnolia Press, will officially open!”

Joanna Gaines said something about the project felt right when they bought property a year ago.  She shared more details about the project on her blog writing, “When we evaluated what we felt was missing from the overall experience and how we could use the old building next door, everyone on our team agreed a good corner coffee shop would make the perfect fit.”

Magnolia Press will open in the fall.  Inside, the building will match Joanna Gaines’ signature style of clean lines, neutral gray and white tones.  As for the origin of the name, as Gaines said in her blog, “When our team brainstormed on the name we kept coming back to this idea of a french press and the slower (but very rewarding) process of making a rich, good cup of coffee. It felt symbolic for what we hope people find here with us—a spot to slow down, to take it all in, and to simply savor the moment. In a world where everything feels rushed and fast-moving, there’s a familiar and worthwhile pause waiting for us in a good cup of coffee.”

The overall area will be given a facelift that includes some major funding and call for local investment, including a coffee shop, home furniture store, retail village, a repurposed church building, outdoor walkways and recreation and reflection space.
