According to wkyt.com, fifth-grade girls from four Lexington schools had the chance to hear from influential women on Tuesday. The Rotary Club of Lexington After Hours has partnered with BCTC and Fayette County Public Schools in order to empower young girls to dream large. All of the women that spoke at the event come from different backgrounds and all of them spoke about how their goals had changed and evolved over time. However, by working hard and dreaming big they were able to achieve their dreams. The founder and president of Century Technologies Tracy Hardin, stated that while women may be the minority in STEM fields, these girls can be the change. Adalhi Aranda , from the Bluegrass Youth Ballet, stated that, “sometimes leaving home is the best way to kickstart your future.” Ashli Dunn, the family resource coordinator at Arlington Elementary stated, “This is very important because the girl here need to understand that anything is possible. They need to be empowered, A lot of times, they don’t hear anything until later in life. So, they’ve started early they will grow into being the successful women that we all know they can become.”
