Fendi’s Kim Jones Refreshes the 1993 Lagerfeld-Designed Zodiac Collection for a Summer Astrology Capsule

Don’t know how to broach the “what’s your sign?” conversation? Cut to the chase by wearing your sun, moon or rising proudly — and luxuriously — with Fendi’s latest collection, which reintroduces an iconic runway moment from the ’90s while catering to our modern-day obsession with all things astrological.

As Fashionista reports, the brand announced the Fendi Astrology capsule with an ad campaign photographed by Steven Meisel starring Irina Shayk. In one image, she lays out in a “Virgo” one-piece. (Shayk is actually a Capricorn.) In another, she poses in a silk mini dress featuring a print that highlights all of the signs.

The summer drop revisits the astrology series introduced in Fendi’s Spring 1990 collection, which Karl Lagerfeld expanded upon thirty years ago, in Spring 1993. On the latter runway, models including Tyra Banks, Kimora Lee Simmons, Helena Christensen, Veronica Webb and more appeared in blue- and red-outlined white one-pieces and separates spelling out different Zodiac signs in both English and Italian.

This Kim Jones-ified version borrows primarily from the Spring 1993 show, updating the silhouettes and colors for a 2023 customer (and crafting them with recycled lycra).

It also expands on the theme across an array of ready-to-wear: caftans, dresses, blouses, crochets, sweaters, denim and jackets, many bearing new Zodiac-inspired prints or the FF logo. There are also astrology bags by Silvia Venturini Fendi, plus Zodiac jewelry and charms by Delfina Delettrez Fendi.

Costar girlies with a Fendi budget, it’s your summer. Prices start at $240 for a silk scarf and go up to $6,750 for an embroidered Baguette. (Well, really to $8,900, if you’re in the market for a wooden, logo-covered surfboard.)
