Over the weekend, members of the FBI and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were spotted outside Ben Affleck’s Brentwood home, sparking curiosity about the nature of their visit.
Photos obtained by media outlets show law enforcement officials, easily identified by the FBI’s acronym on their t-shirts and bulletproof vests, standing outside Affleck’s property early on Sunday, Jan. 12. According to witnesses, they lingered outside his gated residence for several minutes before departing.
FBI Statement on Drone Activity
While the reason for the visit was initially unclear, a representative for the FBI later clarified that agents were in the area as part of the bureau’s Ground Intercept task force. This unit is investigating unauthorized drone activity near the Palisades wildfire, which continues to rage through the region.
“Agents and our local partners may be visible throughout the area, including at various residences, for this reason,” the FBI spokesperson told Parade.
Affleck and Family Evacuate Amid Fires
Affleck, 52, reportedly evacuated his home last week as the fires worsened. He was seen visiting the home of his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, though it’s uncertain if this was due to evacuation orders or simply a check-in. Affleck and Garner, who co-parent three children—Violet (19), Seraphina (16), and Samuel (12)—appear to have escaped the fires unscathed so far.
Garner’s home has also remained untouched, though she tragically lost a friend who “did not get out in time.”
Devastation Across the Region
The wildfires have already claimed the homes of several high-profile celebrities, including Mandy Moore, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Ricki Lake, and Paris Hilton.
As of Monday, officials reported that the Palisades Fire had consumed over 23,000 acres, while the nearby Eaton Fire had burned through 14,000 acres. Firefighters continue battling high winds and dangerous conditions to contain the flames.
A Community in Crisis
The visit to Affleck’s property highlights the far-reaching impact of the fires, from evacuations to law enforcement activity. As officials work to control the blazes, many families and neighborhoods remain in limbo, hoping their homes and loved ones stay safe.
