According to billboard.com, BLACKPINK announced on Tuesday, July fifth, that they plan on returning with new music in August and a world wide tour before the end of the year. An official press release from YG Entertainment announced that the four, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are in the “final stages of recording a new album” and that the new music will be “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year.” The international tour is quoted in being the “largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group.” “A lot of BLACKPINK-esque music has been prepared over a long period of time,” a representative for YG Entertainment says. The K-pop group released their first full length album titled, The Album, back in October of 2020, where it peaked at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 for two weeks. Just a week ago BLACKPINK also became the first musical act on YouTube to reach 75 million subscribers on the platform. In 2019, Jisoo is quoted in saying, “You don’t have to understand Korean to understand the music, the visuals, the vibe,” and now it look as if the group is planning their U.S. takeover when it comes time for their worldwide tour.
