Evan Longoria has been a big trade chip for the Tampa Bay Rays over the last year and on Wednesday he was finally dealt. He has been sent to the San Francisco Giants for four players in a deal that’s biggest piece was Longoria himself.
Longoria’s value is a big one as he has been an All-Star three times during his career and has amassed 261 home runs. The Giants gave up Denard Span, Christian Arroyo and two others to get this stud third basemen.
The Giants have been very active this offseason being among many trade rumors after a year that was quite disappointing. The Rays on the other hand are happy to deal away Longoria who has $88 million left on his contract. The Rays will be paying just $14.5 million of it.
The Giants are making moves in 2017, trying to get back on top in 2018.
