Eva Mendes Reflects on Acting Career and Ryan Gosling’s Loving Support

Eva Mendes recently opened up about her relationship with longtime partner Ryan Gosling, revealing how he makes her feel sensual and confident. In a candid interview with The Times on October 17, Mendes shared some sweet insights about their dynamic, discussing both their personal and professional lives.

The 50-year-old actress, known for her roles in Hitch and The Place Beyond the Pines, didn’t hold back when expressing how Gosling, 43, enhances her sense of self. “I feel really f—— sexy at times,” Mendes said. “The way my man looks at me is just … at times I’m like, oh my God.” She acknowledged that her sense of sexiness is closely tied to the way Gosling interacts with her, noting, “So much of how I feel is a reflection of what he’s giving me.”

Mendes also spoke about her perception of herself, stating that while she has never considered herself traditionally beautiful, she often feels sexy—something that seems to come from an inner confidence rather than external validation. “I guess because I’ve never considered myself beautiful, but I’ve always felt very sexy,” she added.

Reflecting on her career, Mendes made a surprising revelation. Despite her many successful films, she admitted she was “never in love with acting.” She explained, “I don’t mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn’t a great actress. I had my moments when I worked with really great people.” However, Mendes noted that working with Gosling on The Place Beyond the Pines was a highlight for her, saying, “He gets something out of me that’s never been accessible before.”

The couple, who met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011, have shared their lives both on and off the screen since then. After the movie wrapped, they began dating and now share two daughters, Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, 8.

Earlier this year, Mendes spoke about Gosling’s support in her life, though she kept the details private. “In all the ways I need to be supported, he’s got me,” she said in a May interview. Gosling has also been vocal about how Mendes supports his career, telling Extra in May that she is his biggest champion. “When she works, I stay home with the girls,” Gosling said, adding that Mendes has become his go-to acting coach. “She has really become the best acting coach I have ever had, it’s endless how she helps me.”

Their relationship, a rare blend of mutual admiration and partnership, continues to be a source of inspiration, both on-screen and off, as they balance work, family, and creative endeavors.
