ESPN is reshaping its on-air lineup as the network continues a major organizational overhaul, with former NFL MVP Cam Newton among the latest high-profile personalities leaving the company.
Newton’s departure comes during a broader round of layoffs affecting both ESPN and NFL Network employees. The changes follow ESPN’s ongoing integration of NFL media assets, prompting the company to reevaluate staffing and programming as it builds its future television and digital strategy.
After joining ESPN in 2024, Newton quickly established himself as a prominent voice on First Take. He became a regular debate partner for Stephen A. Smith and eventually served as the show’s primary Monday co-host throughout football season, helping anchor one of the network’s highest-profile weekly broadcasts.
Newton is not the only recognizable face exiting the network. Veteran NFL analyst Ryan Clark is also among the reported departures, highlighting the significant scope of ESPN’s restructuring efforts. Additional on-air personalities and behind-the-scenes employees have also been affected.
