Michael J. Fox, the beloved actor and Parkinson’s disease advocate, opened up about his ongoing battle with the disease in a recent interview with PEOPLE. Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, says that every day is a new challenge, but he remains hopeful and determined.
Fox revealed that he is constantly adjusting his medication regimen to find the right balance to manage his symptoms, which include tremors, stiffness, and balance issues. Despite the difficulties, he remains active and engaged in his work and advocacy, including his Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
“I’m not gonna be 80,” Fox told PEOPLE. “I’m not gonna be 60. I’m not even gonna be 70. But I’m happy with every day that I have and will continue to take them as they come.”
Fox’s candor and resilience in the face of Parkinson’s disease continue to inspire and uplift those in the Parkinson’s community and beyond.
