Eminem Praises Taylor Swift in Promo for New Album

The old Slim Shady can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, because he’s too busy praising Taylor Swift.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has recently dropped his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). In a surprising twist, one of his latest promo videos features a nod to the “Cruel Summer” songstress herself, Taylor Swift.

In a new YouTube video for Complex, Eminem goes head-to-head with his infamous alter-ego, Slim Shady. During their heated exchange, Slim Shady takes a jab at Mathers, saying, “You’re not f—ing Taylor Swift. You had one era that mattered…mine.”

Fans quickly took to social media to react. “Another GOAT recognizing his peers,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another declared, “He spilled,” while someone else insisted, “I just know Taylor loves this.”

The mention of Swift is just one of several topics covered in the face-off video, which was released on July 30 to promote the new album. The theme of The Death of Slim Shady mirrors Swift’s own reputation era, where she famously declared the “old Taylor” dead in her lead single “Look What You Made Me Do.”

While Slim Shady might still be in his “Anti-Hero” era, Mathers is definitely channeling major reputation vibes.

“we need slim shady on rep TV vault track,” another user on X suggested.
