New Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande has wasted no time in showcasing his skills, sharing an electrifying drum cam video of his performance of “Disasterpiece” during a recent show. Casagrande, formerly of Sepultura, was officially announced as Slipknot’s new drummer last month, stepping in to replace Jay Weinberg, who was let go in November 2023.
Weinberg’s dismissal, described by the band as a creative decision, left fans speculating about who would fill the void. Casagrande quickly became a top contender after his departure from Sepultura in February. Addressing his decision to join Slipknot, Casagrande said, “The big thing, the reason I agreed to audition, was the end of Sepultura. The band was going to break up, and I didn’t want to stop playing drums at the age of 33.”
He added, “I had a chat with Slipknot, asked about their schedule and if it would be possible to juggle the two bands, but they said no, it wouldn’t be possible, I’d be exclusive. So it was my decision to leave Sepultura.”
Casagrande’s drum cam footage of “Disasterpiece” captures his intense energy and precision, solidifying his place in Slipknot. Fans can look forward to experiencing his prowess live as Slipknot continues to work on new material and prepares for an extensive tour throughout 2024.
