Ella Langley has officially turned “Choosin’ Texas” into a piece of Billboard history.
The country singer’s breakout smash has now spent 23 total weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the song the longest run at the top in the chart’s history.
The achievement moves “Choosin’ Texas” past Mariah Carey’s holiday powerhouse “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which had accumulated 22 weeks in the top position.
It is the latest milestone in a chart run that has steadily rewritten the record book.
Released in October 2025, “Choosin’ Texas” entered the Hot 100 the following month before reaching the top 10 in January. By February, Langley had her first No. 1 on the all-genre chart.
The song refused to disappear from the conversation.
Before reaching 23 weeks at the summit, “Choosin’ Texas” had already become the longest-running non-holiday No. 1 in Hot 100 history. That distinction previously belonged jointly to Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which each logged 19 weeks on top.
Langley’s success also represents a major crossover moment for contemporary country music. Earlier in its run, “Choosin’ Texas” became the first song to simultaneously occupy the No. 1 position on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.
Written by Langley alongside Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, “Choosin’ Texas” pairs country storytelling with enough mainstream appeal to travel well beyond the format’s traditional audience. Langley, Lambert and Ben West produced the track.
The song appears on Langley’s sophomore album, “Dandelion,” and has transformed what was already a rapidly rising career into a history-making one.
Plenty of songs have had a big year. “Choosin’ Texas” has done something considerably rarer: it has changed the Billboard record book.
After 23 weeks at No. 1, Langley no longer simply owns one of the biggest country crossover hits of her generation. She now has the longest-running Hot 100 chart-topper of them all.
