Eagles DE Josh Sweat Hospitalized With A Neck Injury

Josh Sweat a DE for the Philadelphia Eagles had to be hospitalized after a neck injury in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Sweat Tweeted on Sunday night that he plans to return this season. The injury happened when Sweat dove to tackle fullback Adam Prentice. Sweat made contact with his head into Prentice’s body falling face first into the ground and remaining there prone as medical staff made their way to him.

They were able to stabilize Sweat on a stretcher then put him on a cart taking him off the field as fans chanted his name. His team later announced that Sweat was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons with a neck injury. They also had announced on Sunday evening that Sweat would be released later in the night and did not provide further updates. The Eagles went on to lose the game 20-10 and go into next week without having secured the NFC East or the NFC’s number one seed.

In 15 games this season, Sweat has 11 sacks, a forced fumble, and a returned interception for a touchdown.
