This time of the year is amazing for college football fans and it’s not just because of the action on the field. Just this weekend we saw multiple coaching positions open up and close. While Nebraska, Texas A&M and Arkansas fired their coaches, Tennessee and UCLA hired their head coaches!
Nebraska has officially fired Mike Reilly while Arkansas has let Bret Bielema go as their head coach. Nebraska is looking hard at Scott Frost it sounds like while Arkansas has just started their search for a new head man in charge. Texas A&M made a surprise move and fired Keith Sumlin on Sunday shocking many, but appeasing plenty of Aggies’ fans.
UCLA hired Chip Kelly, the former Oregon and Eagles head coach. This is an exciting bit of news for those that are fans of points and an up-tempo offense. Florida was in the hunt for him reportedly, but he chose UCLA over them. There’s no worry for Gators’ fans as they hired Dan Mullen, the now former Mississippi State head coach, Sunday afternoon.
Tennessee made an interesting move by unofficially hiring Greg Schiano as their head coach on Sunday but then a ton of backlash from their fan base has put things in murky waters. We’ll be keeping an eye on this one but things are definitely getting interesting in Knoxville right now. Schiano might have gotten the job and lost it in the same day!
