The 2016 Juno Awards occurred this weekend and there were many stars celebrated. This Canadian event was held in Calgary and is commonly known as the Grammys for Canadian music. It wasn’t just your average award show either. This award show was the first ever shown in 4K!
Drake had himself quite the chance to have a huge night at the Junos, but things didn’t go his way. While he did win the Rap Recording of the Year, he lost out on the Fan Choice Award (to Justin Bieber), Artist of the Year (to The Weeknd), Album of the Year (to The Weeknd) and the Single of the Year (also to The Weeknd). Winning just one award at this event is not a bad thing. Many big stars from Canada were in attendance and being able to say you were nominated for five awards and won one is still quite an achievement.
Clearly, The Weeknd had a monster night, as he won five awards at the event.
The event was quite huge, lasting two nights with the gala dinner happening on Saturday night. Many of the awards given out at the 2016 Juno Awards were done so at this gala dinner.
