Drake continues to fan the flames of speculation about a potential resurgence of his rap rivalry with Kendrick Lamar—and possibly others. Last Friday (Aug. 23), the Canadian rapper dropped a few fresh tracks on his secondary Instagram account, “plottttwistttttt,” which quickly made their way to his “100 gigs” website. Among the new releases was a Playboi Carti collaboration titled “No Face,” where Drake rapped about being glad that “ngas who envied and held that st in got to finally show it.” Another track, “Circadian Rhythm,” had fans buzzing with theories that it referenced a line from Lamar’s “6:16 in LA.”
As reported by outlets like HipHopDX, Drake upped the intrigue by posting a cryptic video on his burner Instagram account on Sunday (Aug. 25). The short clip featured an excerpt from a 2004 interview with former Detroit Pistons star Rasheed Wallace, who confidently predicted his team’s win in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals after losing the first game to the Indiana Pacers. Wallace’s bold statement proved prophetic, and fans are now wondering if Drake’s post was a signal that he’s gearing up for a “game two” in his ongoing rap feud.
The video, now deleted, sparked a flurry of reactions on Twitter. “Drake, that was the Super Bowl of rap beef. There is no game two,” tweeted one user, Keegan59992745. Another user, NakilW, suggested, “Pusha T turned Drake into this evil maniacal genius. He’s handling this Kendrick battle in phases, not rounds.” Meanwhile, journalist Thomas Hobbs admitted on Twitter that he “honestly couldn’t name one” of Drake’s new singles, calling it “uncharted territory.”
As fans continue to dissect the clues and speculate, it remains to be seen whether the famed Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar feud is about to heat up again.
