Missy Elliott, Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, and music executive Sylvia Rhone will all be honored at the Recording Academy Horns with the Recording Academy Global Impact Award for both their professional and personal achievements over the years in the music industry. The awards will be presented by the Black Music Collective at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on February second. Adam Blackstone is going tot be the musical director of the event.
The Recording Academy’s CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated, “I am so thrilled to honor and celebrate these four giants in the music industry.”
Dr. Dre is a seven time Grammy Award winning artist, producer, founder, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics. While Missy Elliott was a pioneer for women in hip hop for over 25 years and a Multi-Grammy Award winning rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer.
Multiplatinum artist Lil Wayne, is a five-time Grammy Award winning artist and is Young Money Entertainment founder and CEO, Young Money APAA Sports founder, acclaimed author, pro skater, and philanthropist.
Meanwhile, Sylvia Rhone is the only African American and very first woman to be named Chairwoman and CEO of Elektra Entertainment Group. She was also selected as Chairwoman and C.E.O of Epic Records by Sony Music Entertainment, making her the first woman CEO of a major record label owned by a Fortune 500 company.
