Donald Glover Prepares for Childish Gambino’s Final Act with Fiery Hot Ones Appearance

Donald Glover, the creative force behind Childish Gambino, is gearing up for the release of his final album under the moniker, “Bando Stone & The New World.” Before the highly anticipated album drops, Glover took on the spicy challenge of Hot Ones on Thursday, testing his taste buds and reflecting on his artistic journey.

Glover, known for his experimentation with hallucinogenics like ayahuasca, likened the intense experience of eating spicy wings to a shamanic ritual. “This does feel shamanic,” he told host Sean Evans. “It feels pretty intense already. I feel like I’m about to do ayahuasca.”

As he powered through the heat, Glover discussed the evolution and conclusion of his Childish Gambino persona. “A collaborator of mine, fam and I, we talked about the death of Superman a lot … I always knew Childish Gambino was like a character, and on some level I wanted it to end,” he explained. Glover compared his alter ego to a character from The Office, noting that while it worked in the past, it’s time for something new.

Glover’s Childish Gambino moniker was discovered through a Wu-Tang Clan name generator during his college years. He shared a story from RZA, who told him the name represents a child becoming a boss. “This last sunset walk is for the fans. This is for you,” Glover said, dedicating his final album to his supporters.

In a surprising promise, Glover offered unhappy fans a refund at his upcoming shows, showcasing his dedication to delivering an unforgettable experience. “If this isn’t the best live show you’ve seen — after the first song if you’re like, ‘I gotta go,’ you can leave and I’ll give you your money back,” he pledged.

Glover credited his Community co-star Joel McHale for building his hot-sauce tolerance, revealing that their mutual challenge helped him prepare for the spicy ordeal.

“Bando Stone & The New World” hits streaming services today, featuring collaborations with Jorja Smith, Flo Milli, Yeat, Steve Lacy, and more. Childish Gambino’s final act promises to be a genre-blending farewell that fans won’t want to miss.
