Doja Cat Prioritizes Artistry Over Fame as She Prepares for New Album Vie

Doja Cat is setting clear boundaries between her creative process and the pressure of chart success as she readies her upcoming fifth studio album, Vie. In a candid interview with V Magazine, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about her evolving approach to music and fame.

“What I want to avoid is that little monster that just wants success,” Doja explained. Instead, she’s focused on perfecting the craft, from production to vocal delivery. “It’s how things sound that makes the music worth listening to,” she emphasized, making it clear that commercial performance won’t dictate her self-worth as an artist.

Doja, 29, also reflected on her vocal development, admitting she’s surprised by her current abilities. “I could not f***ing sing,” she laughed, crediting years of growth for expanding her vocal range and confidence.

Earlier this year, the Paint the Town Red singer stepped outside her comfort zone with a performance of “Diamonds Are Forever” at the Academy Awards. Despite battling nerves and online criticism, Doja called the experience “brave and scary” but ultimately rewarding.

With Vie, Doja Cat is ready to embrace both the risks and rewards of true artistic evolution.
