Rising star Doechii has been named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, joining the ranks of past honorees such as Taylor Swift, SZA, Lady Gaga, and last year’s recipient, Karol G.
Doechii’s third mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, released in 2024, received critical acclaim for its versatile blend of smooth R&B and sharp flows. The mixtape not only showcased her dynamic range but also earned her the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, making her only the third woman to win in that category.
The Billboard Women in Music Awards, scheduled for March 29 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, will honor Doechii alongside other influential artists, including aespa, Ángela Aguilar, and Blackpink’s Jennie. Hosted by Laverne Cox, the event will be broadcast live on VIZIO WatchFree+.
In 2023, Doechii was honored with Billboard’s Rising Star award, and her progression to Woman of the Year in 2025 highlights her significant impact on the music industry. Billboard’s Editor-in-Chief, Hannah Karp, praised Doechii’s unique sound, captivating stage presence, and candid lyrics, stating that she is “taking pop culture by storm.”
