The popular television shows “Chicago PD” “Chicago Fire” “Law and Order: SVU” and “Chicago Med” have all been renewed for another season. What do these shows, Hill Street Blues, and the original “Law and Order” have in common? Each is the creative child of Dick Wolf, the genius of television drama.
Dick Wolf began his media career as a copywriter for a large ad agency in New York, writing screen plays at night, hoping to expand his horizon into television producing. His first big break came as a writer on the Steven Bochco series Hill Street Blues, but exploded when his concept for Law and Order was picked up in the early 90s. The franchise expanded into highly successful spin offs, giving him the leverage to do whatever he wanted in Hollywood.
Dick Wolf has earned countless Primetime Emmys, a Grammy for his work on the Doors: When You’re Strange ‘Best Long Form Video’ in 2012, and has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in Hollywood.
