The DeKalb (Illinois) County Community Foundation recently awarded $162,250 in grants this fall to 25 local nonprofit and community organizations. The grants are given every year during the fall and spring to eligible organizations located around DeKalb County. The grants are given to several areas including, arts and culture, education, community development, environment and animal welfare and health and human services.
The Fall Community Needs Grants most importantly helped to fund multiple girl power organizations including Dimensions Youth Ballet, with $1,500 to provide supplies for a ballet production, Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois in order to give $2,700 to provide girl’s empowerment program kits, and lastly, Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois with $2,500 to provide supplies for a girl’s exercise program.
