Death Cab for Cutie is commemorating the 20th anniversary of their seminal album, Plans, with a series of special performances in August 2025. The band will play the album in its entirety, featuring beloved tracks such as “Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Follow You Into the Dark,” and “Crooked Teeth.” The tour includes stops in Seattle, Chicago, and Brooklyn, with support from Nation of Language and the American Analog Set on select dates.
Frontman Benjamin Gibbard reflected on the album’s significance, stating, “Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever—it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations.” He added that, despite being immersed in creating their next studio album, the band felt it essential to honor this milestone.
In addition to the anniversary shows, Death Cab for Cutie will open for My Chemical Romance on August 9 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, … the latter will perform The Black Parade in full. This date is not part of the Plans anniversary series.
This celebration follows the band’s recent tour, where they performed Transatlanticism in full alongside The Postal Service’s Give Up, with Gibbard performing double duty each night.
