Dead & Company to Celebrate 60 Years of Grateful Dead Legacy With Historic Golden Gate Park Concerts

The spirit of the Grateful Dead will return to its birthplace this summer as Dead & Company gears up for a monumental celebration at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Marking the band’s 60th anniversary, the surviving members—led by Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and guitarist John Mayer—are set to perform three special shows on August 1, 2, and 3 at the iconic Polo Fields.

Announced by San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, the proposal will go before the Recreation and Parks Commission for approval. If greenlit, the concerts, produced by Another Planet Entertainment and Live Nation, are expected to draw up to 60,000 fans daily, igniting a weekend of music, nostalgia, and community spirit.

Formed in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood during the 1960s, the Grateful Dead became the soundtrack of the Summer of Love, weaving together rock, folk, blues, and psychedelia. Decades later, Dead & Company continues to carry that torch, embracing new generations of Dead Heads.

“This is more than a concert—it’s a San Francisco homecoming,” said Mayor Lurie. Beyond the music, the event promises a significant boost to the local economy, much like last year’s shows that generated over $31 million.

San Francisco is ready to dance once again under the stars with its most iconic band.
