David Gilmour Climatically Closes Door on Any Future with Roger Waters

Legendary guitarist David Gilmour has unequivocally declared that he will never perform alongside his former Roger Waters, marking what many see as the final chapter in one of rock’s longest-running feuds. In a rare joint interview with his wife and songwriting partner Polly Samson, featured in The Telegraph, Gilmour stated plainly: “There is no possible way that I would do that.”

The strain between the two men stems from decades of creative, personal, and legal battles following Waters’s departure from Pink Floyd in 1985. Samson made explosive remarks in 2023 against Waters, labeling him “anti-Semitic to your rotten core… a Putin apologist… a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding… megalomaniac.” Gilmour affirmed her words, saying they were “every word demonstrably true.”

Gilmour acknowledged the legacy that Waters helped build—especially on classic albums like The Wall and Animals—yet insisted that restoration of their relationship is simply not feasible. He emphasized his desire to “steer clear” of Waters and the political controversies he continues to stir.

With Walters and Gilmour both in their late 70s, the door to a reunion has been firmly closed. Fans longing for a classic Pink Floyd reunion should now look elsewhere—the band’s future is officially locked in the past.
