David Bowie’s Greatest Hits Will Always Be Remembered

David Bowie lost his life to cancer a year ago in January. When describing his contributions, most people had forgotten that David was a prolific songwriter as well as a music icon. Here are a few of our favorite songs…

“Suffragette City,” released in 1972, also comes from the “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and “Spiders From Mars” and features Bruce Springsteen’s pianist Roy Britain.

“Changes” was a song that was actually released twice, initially from the ‘Hunky Dory’ LP; it was re-released a year later. Rick Wakeman played piano on the tune, and it was a popular concert song in spite of not making much chart headway.

“Let’s Dance” was an MTV hit that brought a lot of new fans to his sound. Interestingly enough Nile Rodgers of Chic credits David and this song for getting him into music

“Dancing in the Street” was the obvious Motown cover, released by David and song partner Mick Jagger in 1985. The exciting news is that it put a lot of money in the pockets of the writers of the song; Marvin Gaye among them.
