Darius Rucker Unites With R.E.M. & Black Crowes Legends in New Supergroup Tour

Darius Rucker is stepping beyond his country roots, joining forces with rock veterans Mike Mills (R.E.M.) and Steve Gorman (The Black Crowes) to form a new supergroup, Howl Owl Howl. The trio officially announced their collaboration, revealing plans for a fall tour and a debut single, “My Cologne.” The origins of the project trace back to informal jam sessions in 2021, eventually evolving into a fully fledged band. Their sound aims to blend “organic roots rock with an open-minded alternative flair,” combining each member’s musical legacy into a fresh, collaborative voice.

Howl Owl Howl’s tour will kick off on November 3 in Indianapolis, with stops in Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York, Atlanta, and more. The single “My Cologne” is scheduled for release on October 31, setting the stage for their debut performances.

Rucker described the experience as refreshing and creatively liberating, reflecting his excitement to “plug in and let it rip.” Mills echoed the sentiment, noting the mutual admiration and musical chemistry behind the collaboration. As fans of rock and roots music await their first live shows, Howl Owl Howl promises to be a bold bridge between genres and eras.
