Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis is returning to the big screen, this time under the direction of his son, Ronan Day-Lewis. The legendary actor, who announced his retirement after 2017’s Phantom Thread, will star in Anemone, a film co-written by both father and son.
The project, produced by Focus Features and Plan B, will mark Ronan’s debut as a feature director. Anemone explores the complexities of family relationships, particularly focusing on the dynamics between fathers, sons, and brothers. Joining the cast are Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the immensely talented Ronan Day-Lewis on his first feature and to have Daniel Day-Lewis as part of this incredible journey,” said Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski. “Their script is truly outstanding, and we can’t wait to bring their vision to life.”
The film will feature an esteemed production team, including cinematographer Ben Fordesman, costume designer Jane Petrie, and production designer Chris Oddy. Universal Pictures International will handle the global distribution.
This will be Daniel Day-Lewis’ first film role since his retirement, and fans of the iconic actor eagerly await his return to the screen in Anemone, set to captivate audiences worldwide.
