Dallas Cowboys Sign Running back Latavius Murray in Response to Ezekiel Elliott’s injury

Running back Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys may have some new competition in the backfield this season. The team recently signed former New Orleans Saints running back Latavius Murray to a one-year contract, according to reports. This comes after the Cowboys lost running back Deuce Vaughn to the Buffalo Bills.

Murray, who played for the Saints last season, has proven to be a reliable runner in the league. In 2020, he ran for 656 yards and scored 4 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Elliott struggled last season, rushing for just 979 yards and scoring only 6 touchdowns. The Cowboys also have Tony Pollard, who showed promise in limited opportunities last season.

It’s unclear how the Cowboys plan to utilize their backfield this season, but it seems likely that Murray will have a role in the offense. The signing adds depth to a position that was thin last season, and could help take some pressure off Elliott, who has been the team’s primary back for several seasons.
