Country music has another love story to celebrate as Walker Montgomery and Krista Slaubaugh have officially become husband and wife.
Montgomery, the 27-year-old son of country music veteran John Michael Montgomery, married 28-year-old Slaubaugh, one half of the country duo Tigirlily Gold, on October 23 in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee. The ceremony brought together approximately 130 family members and friends for a celebration filled with country traditions and personal touches.
The couple embraced an elegant Western theme, encouraging guests to combine formal attire with cowboy boots. Montgomery wore a custom black tuxedo and cowboy hat, while Slaubaugh chose a strapless mermaid-style wedding gown with a cathedral-length veil before changing into boots for the festivities.
Before exchanging traditional vows in front of their guests, the bride and groom shared a private moment over morning coffee, reading handwritten promises to one another. The intimate exchange reflected a familiar routine they value while navigating their busy careers in country music.
The outdoor ceremony was officiated by Reverend Holly Fuqua, Montgomery’s childhood pastor. The couple also commemorated their marriage by branding their initials onto a pair of boots, adding a distinctly Western touch to the occasion.
Music naturally played an important role throughout the celebration. George Strait’s “Blue Clear Sky” accompanied the announcement of their marriage, while James Bonamy’s “I Don’t Think I Will” provided the soundtrack for their first dance.
The reception also reflected the couple’s different backgrounds. Montgomery’s Kentucky heritage and Slaubaugh’s North Dakota roots inspired a menu featuring Southern and Midwestern favorites, along with homemade desserts prepared by family members.
Their romance began in 2023 after Montgomery expressed his interest in Slaubaugh through mutual acquaintances following a performance in Kansas City. The message eventually reached her, leading to an online conversation that developed into a relationship.
Montgomery proposed in May 2025 during a getaway in Highlands, North Carolina, choosing a picturesque setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains for the occasion.
Although both newlyweds maintain demanding careers in the music industry, they have described their relationship as a source of stability, encouragement, and happiness. Slaubaugh appreciates Montgomery’s support for her ambitions, while Montgomery admires his wife’s positive outlook and enthusiasm for life.
For the two country performers, their wedding represents more than a romantic milestone. It marks the beginning of a new chapter together, with music, friendship, and family remaining central to their story.
