Country Legend Tom T. Hall’s Cause of Death Revealed

Country Music Hall of Fame Tom T. Hall passed away on August 20th, 2021, at the age of 85. At the time, after his death was announced by his son Dean Hall, no further reporting was done to follow up on any cause of death.

Now, after an autopsy report was uncovered by the media, it is known that Hall’s cause of death was ruled as a suicide. According to the report, the renowned songwriter was found dead at his Franklin, Tennessee, home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Hall—known as country music’s “storyteller”—wrote many classics, including “That’s How I Got To Memphis” and “Harper Valley P.T.A.,” eventually earning himself a spot in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1978. A few years prior to that, Hall also won a Grammy Award for his Greatest Hits album in 1972 in addition to being nominated for five other awards. He was, then, in 2008, inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and, in 2019, into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
