It has been confirmed that, while producing and starring in a Western movie, Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm, killing the film’s cinematographer and wounding the director.
The devastating incident happened yesterday just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The victims were Halyna Hutchins, who was pronounced dead at the University of New Mexico Hospital, and Joel Souza, who is currently being treated for his injuries at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.
“The details are unclear at this moment, but we are working to learn more, and we support a full investigation into this tragic event,” John Lindsey, guild president, and Rebecca Rhine, executive director, said in a statement.
No statement after the authorities’ confirmation of the loss has been made by Baldwin, and no charges have been filed.
