It’s official: two of comedy’s biggest legends are now in-laws.
Eddie Murphy confirmed during his appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show that his son, Eric Murphy, quietly married Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of fellow comedy icon Martin Lawrence. The pair eloped two weeks ago, skipping a planned big ceremony for an intimate exchange of vows.
“Everybody was making big wedding plans,” Murphy shared, “and then they decided to do something quiet with just the two of them.” He added with a grin, “So now Marty don’t have to pay for the big wedding.”
The wedding news came as a surprise, especially since neither Eric, 35, nor Jasmin, 29, has posted about their nuptials. The couple got engaged in November 2024, sharing video of the romantic proposal on Instagram.
Though the newlyweds skipped the big celebration, Murphy said a larger party is on the way. The couple, who started dating in 2021, met not through their famous fathers but through Jasmin’s uncle.
With their shared Hollywood heritage and strong connection, the Murphys and Lawrences are proving that comedy — and now love — runs deep in their families.
