The British band Coldplay has released a tour companion app that attempts at rewarding their fans for making use of low carbon modes of transportation in order to attend their shows in their current world tour. In just the first segment of their 2022 tour the app received 80,000 downloads, according to Coldplay. The band also claims that estimated emissions caused by fan travel has fallen by almost 50% in comparison to their shows back in 2016-2017. Although it is unclear how true these claims are and how much of an impact the app is really having, Coldplay says that they are committed to making their “Music of the Spheres” tour as ecofriendly and sustainable as they can, even making use of biofueled jets and electric vehicles.
