This Christmas weekend, a handful of movies will be released to enjoy with friends, families, or even on your own to cozy up for the holiday.
Licorice Pizza, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, follows the story of Alana Kane (Alana Haim) and Gary Valentine (Cooper Hoffman) growing up, running around, and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. The film, rated R, also stars Bradley Cooper, Benny Safdie, Maya Rudolph, Ben Stiller, John C. Reilly, Skyler Gisondo, Tom Waits, Sean Penn, Christopher Walken, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and more. It will be released in theaters across the US on Christmas day.
Don’t Look Up, directed by Adam McKay, features a star-studded cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Evans, Timothee Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, Michael Chiklis, Meryl Streep, Himesh Patel, Jonah Hill, Ron Perlman, Mark Rylance, Matthew Perry, Kid Cudi, Ariana Grande, Tomer Sisley, Rob Morgan, Paul Guilfoyle, and Melanie Lynskey. The film tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth. It will be available to watch on Netflix this coming Friday, December 24th.
The Tragedy of MacBeth is Joel Coen’s rendition of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which follows a Scottish Lord setting out to become the King of Scotland after being convinced by three witches to seal his fate. It stars Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Sean Patrick Thomas, Brendan Gleeson, Moses Ingram, Corey Hawkins, Harry Melling, Ralph Ineson, Brian Thompson, Sean Patrick Thomas, Lucas Barker, and more. It will have a limited release on Christmas day, followed by a release on Apple TV+ on January 14th.
