Chrishell Stause Reflects on Trauma, Partner Support Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

Chrishell Stause, known for her role on Selling Sunset, shared a deeply personal and emotional account of evacuating her Los Angeles home as wildfires threatened the area. Appearing on Sherri on Wednesday, January 15, Stause opened up about freezing in fear during the evacuation process, a reaction she traced back to a traumatic experience from her childhood.

“When we did need to evacuate, there was a fire kind of like right in our backyard. It was just immediately like, you gotta go,” Stause recounted. However, instead of springing into action, she admitted, “I just got frozen in fear.”

The Kentucky-born reality star revealed the deeper reason behind her response: “When I was 12, I did watch my house burn down. But that’s something you don’t think about. It happened so long ago.”

A Partner’s Steadfast Support
Thankfully, Stause’s partner, Australian musician G Flip, stepped up in the crisis. The musician, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, quickly took control of the situation. “G was like doing all these things, came back in, and I’m still standing in the same place they left me,” Stause said.

Praising G Flip, Stause continued, “They are so amazing. They basically were like, okay, and just started running me through the things.” Their calm and decisive actions were vital in getting the couple to safety.

The moment gave Stause pause for self-reflection. “You don’t know how you’re gonna react,” she admitted. “I think I would’ve liked to have thought I’m good in an emergency case. But this kinda showed me, I really needed a little kick in the butt, and G was there to keep me focused.”

The pair, who tied the knot in May 2023, moved into their Los Angeles home together in 2022.

Grappling With Widespread Devastation
As wildfires ravage L.A., destroying thousands of homes and properties, Stause and G Flip are just two among hundreds of thousands affected. While their house was spared—thanks to quick action by firefighters—Stause acknowledged the broader impact of the fires.

On Sherri, Stause addressed the long recovery process ahead. “The devastation is on a level where it is going to take time,” she said, pointing to housing challenges caused by the destruction. “But we are lobbying to try and make things go quicker than normal.”

Stause shared that her real estate office, The Oppenheim Group, is actively involved in relief efforts. “We’re helping people, obviously for free, trying to place as many people as we can. So it’s been all hands on deck.”

While the couple counts themselves among the fortunate ones, the wildfires have claimed the homes of many notable figures, including Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, Miles and Keleigh Teller, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Chrishell Stause’s story is a testament to resilience, the power of support during adversity, and the daunting challenges of rebuilding after natural disasters.
