Toronto music fans got an unexpected collision of rock and country when Chris Stapleton joined Guns N’ Roses onstage during the band’s Aug. 5 concert at Rogers Stadium.
Stapleton appeared as a surprise guest for “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” teaming with Guns N’ Roses for one of the group’s best-known live standards.
The pairing brought together two performers from very different corners of the music world. Guns N’ Roses have spent decades carrying the flag for hard rock, while Stapleton has built his career around a muscular blend of country, Southern rock, blues and soul.
In Toronto, those worlds briefly shared the same stage.
The guest appearance also came with remarkably convenient timing. Stapleton was already in town for his own concert at Rogers Stadium, where his All-American Road Show was scheduled to take over the venue the following evening.
That meant Toronto essentially received back-to-back stadium shows from the two acts, plus an unexpected preview when Stapleton turned up one night early.
Guns N’ Roses’ Toronto stop was part of the band’s 2026 world tour, with Public Enemy appearing on the bill. The group is continuing across North America following the Toronto performance, including additional Canadian stadium dates later in August.
Stapleton, meanwhile, was scheduled to headline Rogers Stadium on Aug. 6 with Zach Top and Allen Stone.
For fans who happened to be at the Guns N’ Roses show, however, the night delivered something that was never printed on the ticket: one of country music’s biggest voices stepping into the world of one of rock’s most enduring bands.
