Cher Horowitz Returns: Alicia Silverstone Confirms Clueless Sequel Series in the Works

Thirty years after the beloved teen comedy Clueless first hit screens, Alicia Silverstone is gearing up to slip back into her iconic yellow plaid for a brand-new sequel series coming to Peacock.

Silverstone, now 48, delivered an update during an appearance on The Today Show, sharing that the project is still in the “baby stages.” She emphasized the creative team’s mission: to respect the nostalgia of the original while infusing the series with fresh, contemporary energy. “I’m really excited about it… We want to honor what everyone loves about Clueless and Cher,” she said, adding confidently, “I’m confident that we’ll be able to do that.”

Behind the scenes, the series boasts a powerhouse team. Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are steering the writing and executive production, alongside original director and writer Amy Heckerling—who helped introduce Cher Horowitz three decades ago—and Silverstone herself.

While plot details remain tightly under wraps, fan speculation is already in full swing. What will adult Cher be up to? Will familiar faces return? From fashion-forward closets to evolving teen dramas, the possibilities are endless—and Clueless fans are ready for whatever the Bronzon Alcott High crew has planned next.
