Charli XCX Eyes Acting Career After Pop Dominance

Charli XCX has spent more than a decade shaping the sound and attitude of modern pop. Now, the British star is hinting that her next act may unfold on the big screen rather than the stage.

During a recent appearance on Quenlin Blackwell’s online interview series Feeding Starving Celebrities, the singer shared a surprisingly candid thought about her future. Asked whether acting might become a larger part of her career, she did not hesitate. The performer said she would love to leave music behind and pursue acting.

The comment arrives at a moment when her musical career is riding high. Her 2024 album Brat became one of the most celebrated releases of her catalog and went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. The success reinforced her reputation as one of pop’s most adventurous and influential artists.

Even so, Charli has already been experimenting with storytelling outside the recording studio. Earlier this year she appeared in The Moment, a mockumentary-style film that presents a fictionalized version of herself coping with the pressures of fame and the music industry. The project offered a satirical but revealing look at the realities behind pop stardom.

Her acting ambitions extend well beyond that single project. Charli has also signed on to appear in several upcoming films, including director Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex and the horror title Faces of Death. The growing list of screen credits suggests that her interest in film is more than a passing curiosity.

The singer is even thinking about creating her own cinematic concept. She has floated the idea of an “ultimate it-girl” horror film inspired by the Final Destination franchise, imagining a cast that could include several figures from the worlds of fashion, social media, and entertainment.

For now, the idea of quitting music remains more of a bold declaration than a confirmed plan. With new acting roles emerging and fans still eager for future music, Charli XCX appears to be standing at an unusual crossroads. Whether she ultimately trades chart-topping tracks for movie scripts or simply balances both worlds, her creative journey is clearly entering a new phase.
