Charli XCX continues her vibrant summer with the release of the “Guess” remix featuring Billie Eilish. The Aidan Zamiri-directed video brings the song’s playful lyrics to life, with Charli and Billie literally climbing a mountain of lingerie and Billie operating a bulldozer loaded with laundry.
Charli first hinted at the “Guess” remix earlier this week by sharing a photo with the guest artist’s face cropped out. Fans quickly identified Billie Eilish from the rings she wore in the picture, matching them to those she had on during a recent Chicken Shop interview with Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Billie’s brother and collaborator, Finneas, confirmed their involvement by reposting Charli’s video teaser on Instagram, adding, “This was like, too much fun to make.” During a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Billie revealed that this collaboration was her first with another artist in six years, expressing her initial nerves about the experience. “I was really nervous because I haven’t worked with anyone but Finneas in six years, and I hated it back in the day,” she said. Finneas added, “Billie was telling me why she loved this one artist, and we were watching their music videos together. I was texting them, like, ‘We’re sitting here watching your stuff, it’s so good.’ They were like, ‘I’m in L.A.’ I was like, ‘You want to do a day?'”
This summer has been monumental for Charli XCX, who released her sixth album, Brat, last month. Alongside the album, she released a deluxe edition with three new songs, including “Guess.” She has also dropped several remixes from the album, featuring artists like Addison Rae, A.G. Cook, Robyn, Yung Lean, and Lorde. The remix of “Girl, So Confusing” with Lorde came after Charli initially expressed frustration with an unnamed pop star in the original version. Following a voice note to Lorde explaining it was about her, the two artists collaborated on the remix, working out their differences through the music.
Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s collaboration on “Guess” adds another exciting chapter to an already eventful summer for the pop star.
