After years of speculation and scattered teasers, Chance the Rapper has officially announced his long-awaited album Star Line, arriving August 15. The release marks his first full-length project since 2019’s The Big Day and reunites him with visual artist Brandon Breaux, who crafted the iconic covers for 10 Day, Acid Rap, and Coloring Book.
The album’s title nods to Marcus Garvey’s historic Black Star Line—a steamship enterprise aimed at empowering the global Black community—signaling Chance’s intention to reflect on legacy, heritage, and elevation. The project also hints at a return to form, as Chance draws from the same collaborative energy that defined his early, beloved mixtapes.
Star Line is led by the single “Tree,” a soulful and introspective track produced by DexLvl. The song has already stirred buzz with its stripped-down honesty and spiritual overtones, showcasing Chance’s signature blend of gospel, hip-hop, and storytelling.
For fans who’ve waited patiently since The Big Day, Star Line feels like more than just an album—it’s a creative reset, an artistic reunion, and a chance to reclaim the narrative.
